Lithium battery help

Fitted a new lithium battery which slowly died over the course of a day's riding - wouldn't spin the engine after the first few starts, now will barely toot the horn.
I have the right charger which says it is charged to 13v, as does a multimeter, but it drops to 5V as soon as load is put on.
So the battery is dead, my concern is why. Regulator failure / overcharging maybe? Have I discharged it too deeply? Or was I just unlucky with a duff new battery?
All advice welcome!

have you bought it from taffy?
Had the same problem with mine, what happen when we plug the battery with charger to start it was still difficult ...we think the battery was too weak and with the charger too strong ....we start using this make motobatt (search google husaberg battery) and start first time all the time since then

Maybe the bike don't charge the battery? Something wrong there? If a lithium battery goes below a certain voltage it's more or less ******. For Shorai, which I have personal experience with, that level is 12.86V... Meaning if you go below that it might not recover. So if you let your battery get drained over the day without any charge it dies.
I would check the bike and see if it charges. If it does you were probably unlucky with the battery, if it doesn't charge then you were unlucky again but in a tougher way..

Recheck battery connection you never know. If good take the battery back. I had 3 shorai batteries go bad on Me. 2 were suspect of unknown use. Replace it with stock battery. Even with the problems I like the Shorai batteries. One I have for 5 years with no problems.

Thanks Gents, after further investigation I have concluded it is the VR, so a new one and new battery are on the way.
