I'm trying to work out how many of these kits I should try and put together?

I'm able to source the bearings and seals in one direction and the dowels in another.

so if you have one of these bikes and you'd like a linkage bearing kit would you tell me? 'normal' prices I hope/expect!

Ned?
Steve?
Eric?
Jeff even....! :)

Yes I would take one. Remember in 98 they did away with the link and went from Ohlins to WP.

Everything else would probably be the same except the link parts (only a few) wouldn't be needed.

I'll take one. Not needed right now, but happy to put int into stock. I've actually had a couple of short rides on the old girl recently and been doing a couple of small things to it. Still goes good :)

Not quite, the last of the links were 98s like mine which has a WP shock. I seem to recall that earlier models had smaller bearings, but not sure when that change occured, maybe 95? The 99s and on are PDS. Although, as ever some might have been made the previous year, ie a 99 made in late 98. Whatever.

You are absolutely correct. 99 models were the first to go linkless.

I was looking at the parts manuals and noted the wrong year.

I have a 98 parts bike and it also has the link and WP shock also.

I owe a debt of thanks to Alexandre Aniceto of Portugal for helping me with this one. he's a great guy, took time to photo and label everything. I then got Alex Geiger to help me through all balls. Alex can supply all the cupped needle bearings and the oil seals.

that leaves the three hollow dowels.
14 x 22 x 86
14 x 22 x 46
12 x 22 x 46

if anyone can help with them that would be great. I've contacted a few internet "corporations". they are so big you just can't gwet the worldly acvice you need sometimes.

OK looks like I'm sorting the hollow dowels out and have ordered everything for 6 sets. I have got to machine all three dowels down to length when I get them.

anyone else feel they will want a set please say now? I'd like to have 3 sets on the shelf. so if the 6 are spoken for I'll order 10 instead etc.

can't say a final price because the dowels need shortening. also the 12 x 22 x 46 starts as a 14 x 22 x 46 so i'm thinking on slipping in a bush at each end, all it does is keep a bolt still and central.

let me know.....

OK the sets are ready. I'm looking for 69.95 gbp outside the EU
inside the EU it will be 84gbp including VAT.

the hardedned shafts all had to be shortened at 7.20gbp per shaft.

one shaft has an ID of 14mm (14x22x46) when we needed 12x22x46 so I have bought two plain bushes to be pressed in at each end (another 3gbp per kit)

the needle shells and seals were cheap enough. If I could have got the correct dowels then the kit would have been cheaper.

I have 3 people on 3 kits so I have 3 kits left up for sale!
