Hi guys,

as far as I know there is a change in liner coating around model year 2003?
Am I right or is there more precise and specific information.
The reason I´m asking, I have the opportunity to buy a used 501 liner, but think to remember that to a certain model year it is very expensive to renew the coating.
Maybe somebody has some knowledge about that!
Thanks in advance!

FS570 Stalling

Hello
I was wondering if anyone can help, my FS570 2011 starts easily, but then stalls just after, can anyone tell me what it might be?

Not heard that one? It is believed that the liner material was not so good later. it is known that Mahle made the first liners but we don't know who made the latter ones.

you can't tell them apart anyway.

I have my liners made from solid alloy rolled bar.

that way you know they wil last!

Cool....THANKS for the quick information!!!

I think somebody...someone has taken good at the beginning and poor later to mean "The Nikasil". it wasn't. it was the alloy that was poorer.

I hope this is clear?

In the USA, L.A. Sleeve and Millennium Industries will "recondition" existing sleeves (hone; renik; re-shape) and/or can make you new ones. I don't know if they have a min order on new. At the time I checked, I wasn't really interested in new as I likely would have compared to Darton Sleeves.

I do know that neither is cheap, or at least wasn't cheap when I last checked it out (I have 6 sleeves that could use some help). Reconditioning was only slightly cheaper than new and that was only for hone/renik. Likely additional if out of round. Based on the quote and my subsequent financial condition, I didn't pursue further.
