License Plate Mounting on FE 570 S

Ok,

Just got the new plate! ... but immediately noticed I don't get any mounting hardware. The holes on the plate don't line up with the holes on the mud flap. Anyway...what do you guys do? Mount sideways? Drill the plate to match the mud flap? make something from some old tire rubber?

Who's got a slick solution?

Thanks!!

Drilled the mudguard and used 2 x 6mm nuts/bolts after most of it broke off when new:

I drilled my plate to match the mudguard holes. They're reinforced to support nuts on the back which will keep them from loosening. I bought SST allen screws and nylock nuts to hold the plate. Also, in my state of MN it's illegal to turn the plate sideways so you might want to check on that.

I think maybe my dealer didn't give me some parts? Davo, in the first picture you posted, the part that looks like it's broken...I don't have that part at all. Is that stock? What gives?

Hi BlueDevil,
Yes it was stock. This is a picture when the bike was new back in Feb 2010, before it all broke off :
Maybe the Australian model has a different rear mudguard to the US model?

Strange...I didn't get that extra mount on mine. I just have the small plastic guard with the brake / tail light. I don't have a white light or the whole extra piece. Anyway, I ended up following the same idea as Davo and drilled some holes in my plate and used some phillips head screws with locknuts on the back...

Thanks all...I am now riding on the roads whenever I want and it feels like I'm breaking the law even though I'm legit.

What a fun way to move around!! LOVIN IT!

How about this quick disconnect license plate holder from the Hard Parts cat?

@DaleEO - that's a pretty cool idea if you're going somewhere and definitely don't need the plat on the bike.

Don't you think it would be a good permanent solution?

I guess so but if you're not going to remove it...seems like overkill when two bolts will do...maybe I'll feel differently after my plate gets all bent up. ;o)
