Li-ion battery & charge voltage

I got a super light Li-ion battery and put it in my 05 FS650. It worked great for 1 ride and died. Has anyone used one in a 'berg? I suspect the charging system may have exceeded the 14.4 volt max for this type of battery. Does this model have a voltage regulator, cause I don't see one in the parts list.
 
Can someone post the charging voltage range. I'm at 14.6 with the lights off. Too high?
 
14,6v sound about right for standard charging volts.
but, if you new battery can handle it i dont know.

I think any bike with electrics such as lights, &/or a battery, has to have a voltage regulator. I'd be shocked if it didn't, but then, I don't know everything.
 
I have disassembled a battery for a lawn mower. It had 3,95V LiOn cells (all does, I think). With the cells I put together a 15,85V batttery pack for my Supermono. I supply the power consumers on the bike through a adjustable rectifier (adjusted to 16V). But I'm also interested to know more about how charging in the workshop should be done . I'm sure "Swedish Steel" here at UHE could enlighten us!
 
I can tell you I purchased this battery from www.ballisticracingparts.com through a local dealer.
Li-ion batteries for bikes have good racing potential due to weight savings up to 10lbs. I am finding they have drawbacks for street use such as poor cold weather performance and they are expensive.
