Im a mew member. I live in Utah where can I purchase a Magura Left hand brake kit? I read on the forum that it is in the Husaberg part inventory but I cant see it. Please direct me. Thanks

Why not just connect your existing clutch master cylinder to the rear brake caliper?? This is much more cost effective. If the master cylinder uses brake fluid, it is a piece of cake. If the master cylinder uses mineral oil, the oil can be flushed out then back bled with DOT 3/4 brake fluid.

I believe there is a seal problem with doing this. The KTM/Husaberg clutches use mineral oil and the seals in the lever assembly are not compatable with brake fluid. A friend of mine delt with this a few years ago on his KTM he was setting up so he could use it (he is paralyzed in both legs below the knee from a road bike accident and cannot tell what his feet are doing without looking at them). The only way you can use the stock clutch lever is to slave it to the rear master cylinder (the incompatable fluids never mix) but then things get a bit weird if you use both the pedal and the lever at the same time. He finally obtained some of the proper seals and had a continuous line made to go to the rear brake and removed the pedal/master cylinder completely.

It can be done but you need to change out the seals and then get a brake line long enough to go to the rear brake.

I converted the stock mineral oil clutch master cylinder to DOT 4 brake fluid for a LHRB conversion on my '04 KTM back in early 2004 and have had no trouble with the seals since then. In fact, I converted the same master cylinder back to mineral oil (ATF) for manual clutch use when I recently sold the bike. Since my '08 KTM came from the factory with a brake fluid clutch master cylinder, the LHRB conversion was a no brainer.

Thanks, I checked out the revlok site I will be getting the mugura. Thanks for the info. Since I got the rekluse I don't see a use for the clutch I never use it. Thanks again.

I have a rekluse and have been thinking about the LHRB idea, Something i have thought about is that it would be good to keep the foot operated brake if you did do away with it, and you wanted to stop on a step hill you would be unable to take both hands off the bars. Maybe i am wrong maybe someone has over come the bike rolling away from them, It would be nice to hear how you have. :bounce3:

Note that Rekluse has a LHRB kit that does retain the foot brake. I have ridden auto clutch equipped bikes with the LHRB for 9 years without a foot brake and for the most part have never missed it. If I stop or are forced to stop on a steep hill, the last thing I want to do is to take both hands off the bars. I have heard of some folks using a bungy or some other device as an 'emergency brake' to hold the brake on while the bike is parked on an incline.

I have the Rekluse supplied LHRB and I like the idea of the LHRB - it works great, but the Rekluse brake kit is the cheap AJP brand and the Magura is much better quality. The Rekluse setup allows you to keep the foot brake and use either setup. I rarely use the foot brake now - the hand brake gives a lot more feel and is easier to use on the trails, even on the street. Also, you can use both at the same time if you really need to apply a lot of pressure (SM wheels/tires maybe?) - you can feel the increased pressure in the hand brake lever.

If you can't buy the adapter to use both levers with the Magura you should be able to look at the Rekluse setup and approximate it - it isn't anything fancy.
