led indicators and flashers

I've replaced my normal indicators with led variants and as a given the flasher operates at a faster rate. So far only the fronts have been replaced , incandescent rear.

With all replaced will the flasher still operate or are the new bergs , 09 on , like the old bergs and cease to operate?

If it still does work where do you mount extra resistance in the circuit?

I think they make a different flasher for led systems that replaces the non led flasher...i have a very old berg with all leds and they flash normal using the flasher supplied in the lighting kit i got

the flashers have different speeds due to the different ratings of the bulbs. the factory bulb size is the standard issue. across the manufacturer's.

you'll need to have a different indicator relay size for your bulbs or change the LED light rating I guess.

luckily it's your problem to deal with and when it is all done you can tellus! :D :D

Lol good thing I'm an electrician then, was hoping someone had been through this or wanted to do the thinking for me :D

There'll be some info on this once I get the rear led indicators and possible a write up ...

Ooops i said led flasher, i meant relay, thanks taff, here is what i have and works good and its made for led so they blink normal speed... dont need to be an electrician they got these on amazon for $15US

Ah sweet , will this fit an 09 berg ?! And does it replace the original flashed or used in circuit with it?!

pretty sure the old one will get eliminated, mine originally didnt have one to remove but i am sure they can go together, i doubt it will be a direct bolt on, likely will need to be soldered or quick release connectored into the circuit where the original was, that is the exact one that i have but it came in a tusk enduro lighting kit as an overlay harness (not completely integrated like a factory harness) and i have no idea how it was wired in comparison to your 09. if you would like i am sure i have the wiring diagram that came with the kit i could see where it gets spliced in too and from......off hand i cant remember where it went in the circuit....

I mean cant go together...

i also checked the wiring diagram and it was more vague than i thought and really doesnt show the splices, but if you find your original flasher location i would guess it would just go in place of it, or if you have a bunch of resistors laying around you can play around placing different ones in line with the original in place untill you get the speed to where it should be, although if you dont have them laying around you could probably spend as much money experimenting than just buying the led flasher/relay.

Had a look into the LED flashers and found general feedback saying they were unreliable, this might not be all makes and models but i ended up going for the resistor option as it was something i could do the same day and get parts from a local store.

Ended up using 2 x 10ohm 10W resistors, one for each indicator, on the two front led indicators and mounted them behind the light ( in parallel with indicator wiring ) This with only LED indicators will still cause them to work at a desirable rate and if one led indicator fails the other will still work ( on the same side ).
