Thought I should post this info for those who have a leaking water pump, as it seems to be a common problem. If you have oil or water leaking out the weep hole of your Berg, there is a kit available to fix the problem. Local Husaberg/KTM dealer in Orange NSW Australia John Prior, has produced a kit with instructions to fix the problem. $75 AUS including GST plus postage. You can call John on 0263603800 or email him at [email protected]
Hope this helps.
Cheers :D

I will be interested to see what he does to fix it.

Once this is done it is fixed for good?? or not?

If you come to the May ride at Louee you can ask him yourself. I will find out more details about it next week and post it here. One thing I do know about it is that it uses a totaly different seal. I know that he fitted it to his 06 Fe650 demo but not sure how many hours it did before the bike sold. More details next week.
Cheers

Try and make plans for next years ride, it should be huge.
No worries, I will hopefully be able to reveal all next week.
Cheers
Garry

Garry, i have some tech info on the seal carrier to stop the oil leak, we developed it at our dealership here in Orange for our 550/650 demos, we toss the whole original setup and replace it with a carrier housing the essential parts. My personal 650 06 travelled over 5000km with one installed including condo 750 and finke 2006 plus some x country rides in outback NSW. its sold now and is still a goer, the seal and bearing we use are easy to obtain if you want to change them out and you would re-use our original carrier. I would recommend to do this around the 5000km mark or sooner if you want.
I thought the factory fixed the 07 models but weve had a leaker on our fe650 07 race bike at condo 750 easter w/end. Sorry i cant tell you you too many secrets about how we made it because then i wont sell any but once you purchase the unit it totally reusable and the replacement parts cost around $15 every 5000k. To get the machining tolerances of the carrier correct took ages but now we saved the program on the cnc lathe. we carry around 20 in stock and they come with fitting instructions and photos we also include a sleeve to protect water pump seal from damage when you slide it over the shaft when replcacing the clutch cover.
I recommend you replace the original waterpump seal (not included in kit) as you will need to remove it to hit the original bearing out they sell for $10 the same part as KTM w/pump you may need a clutch cover gasket $30 and waterpump cover gasket $4
We also have a quick fix to stop engine oil spraying up into the airbox at high revs we sell the kit for $15
We can send all parts anywhere.

regards to all owners from ORANGEBERG -John Prior

Hi ORANGEBERG (John),
Well I have had a few days away riding and you have taken the opportunity to get on line and explain this kit. Thanks, as you are the best person to give the details. I hope this helps everyone with a leaking waterpump. Apparently I don't have enough Km on my 650 to have it leak yet. But I know where to go when it does.
Thanks for developing this fix kit as it seems to be a pain in the arse for a lot of people. Hopefully the factory takes your leed and adopts your fix.
Cheers :D

it's great that a member of this site has a found a long over due solution !

i wonder why the factory could not find one :?:

hello cafe 18 hope you had a good ride with the kids etc, good to see you didnt get lost out there in the wild west but you should know that i have a proposal of a ride from condo 750 to possibly map a ride for force members next year, guess what cafe 18 your my pick of someone whom could handle riding for two days and mapping a ride visiting a couple of country pubs. sounds like hard work do you think we can handle it or do we need to call in more troops. i need to get out from behind that counter and i tripped over a steering damper when i did the other day (cant find an owner) any suggestions or do you want to stay at home.

Hi ya JP,
I can confirm that the Berg can out run a 90kg wild pig, but the pig couldn't outrun a dose of lead poisoning !!!! Lots of fun out west mate, we had a ball. Very dry out there though.
I think a two day recon ride could be just what the doctor ordered, with a little medicinal alcohol to settle the dust. I have all the Current maps of all of OZ and it is all set up in a pocket PC that links to a GPS via bluetooth. It all just fits in your pocket and works a treat for mapping a track and recording stuff about your trip. The software is called Oziexplorer and works great. I think I know just the person for that steering damper. Have you got all the bits so I can fit it?
Cheers
Garry.

It was a combination of my frustration of seeing my mechanic changing the original bearing in and out with no result, the final straw was when i picked one of my customers bikes up for its second try at fixing it and he got his thumb caught it the rear sprocket while helping me load it and cut off the end of his thumb. the pain i seen him go through was enough ( ive invited him to Louee ride as a real BERG legend) he unfortunately had his offending 550 05 stolen a few months ago and drove all the way to Orange from Sydney to get a new 06 550 of me(LEGEND) i now donate my organs because this guy is just so unnafected by his loss.
His name is Terry top bloke, lucky he dont know a laywer, funny thing was his brother was an ambo officer on duty in the area at the time and was at the servo asap to help him out.
ORANGEBERG we have seals instock and more units in production as i type email me [email protected] or phone details to 0263603800 and we will post you one out.
