The little hole behind the water pump cover started to spit some oil and radiator liquid together.. is it something normal or is this a sign of a problem..

There was no trace of oil at any part of the engine since 10 days ago. Since then, after each ride I can see some drops (or even more) under that hole..

help please..

Not sure about the 04's but on my '98 when the weep hole started leaking that was telling you that your pump seals are bad. I am not sure about the oil...

edit:
dohhh berger beat me to it....

Although the parts manual shows two water pump seals, having just replaced mine on my 04 550, I can tell you that there is just one water pump seal. BUT, better order two, b/c it is very hard to install and one will likely wreck one attempting to put in the first one. BE SURE AND USE A DRIFT BIGGER THAN THE SEAL TO PUT IT IN, A METAL DOWL MADE OF ALUMINUM IS MY SUGGESTION. I even put a little three bond 1211 silicone sealer around the outside of the seal to help it seal against the case. These seals are KTM style and have a metal casing, unlike the old Husaberg ones that had rubber casing. If you deform it even a little it's going to leak past the outer part of the seal where it meets the case.

Thankyou all for your replies,

Everything got worse today. After a 15 minutes ride when I shut off the engine, the water was flowing as much as a fountain from the weep hole, I was terrified. It stoped flowing after 2 minutes. I took the water pump cover off to see the situation in side but couldn't proceed because of the resistance of the propeller to come out. ( Of course I took the circlip out first )

I used two pliers to pull the propeller in balance but it didn't move even a bit. I didn't apply so much force in order not to brake it .. am I doing something wrong? Do I need a special tool for it. I'm afraid I'm stuck at the beginning step.

I need further tips and help..

keep twisting and pulling with those two pairs of pliers and it'll come. don't forget to twist left and right as well as pulling.

you have to be so careful when you put the sidecover on.

some people fit two thin seals instead of one fat one. otherwise husabutt has the articles you need down to a T.

it's all in the owners doc as usual.

One more but a vital question..

I think I'll be ok just preventing the radiator liquid to leak from the weep hole / this way I'll assure the water not to mix with the oil/engine. And I don't care about the little amount of oil still leaking from the weep hole. So I'm deciding just to replace the seal under the propeller.
The question is: Is it possible for me to take the defective seal off just dismounting the water pump cover OR should I dismount the left side cover ( I hope not ). I don't want to risk or even ruin anything else.

My bike is 2004 fe450..

waiting for your replies,

thanks

with the correct tools you can take the oil seal out from within the waterpump housing. the imp i say impellor is always a snug fit. be careful not to overpush it in!

try to digest the owners doc some more. i realise that it's a foriegn language but your english is very good and it will be worth it.

Hi Taffy,

What I don't understand is how can I over push the propeller in when it's sitting on the retaining pin and I red the owners doc but didn't find so much info on this issue except using two thinner seals instead of one.. If I'm missing anything critical may you directly tell it to me.. :)

Thanks again..
