try getting a feeler guage down there and cleaning it after that when putting the dust cap back on fill it with grease and jump up and down on the bike if that does'nt fix it quite simple you have to replace your fork seals...

why would anybody lay their pride and joy on the floor and jump up and down on it????????????? what good will that do? i think you're a nasty peice of work 44014

Hey Brookester, have had the same problem with mine since I took delivery back in March and the above method works well. Mine ended up being a piece of rubber off of the seal itself due to a bad mold I assume.

Leaking folks

Thanks for the replies, i`ll try them out  brookester.

The best way for you to stop the leaking on the fork seals is to removing them, gently apply a thin grain sand paper or emery cloth on the lip of the seal. Then remove the spring and if you look close, the spring have a separation somewhere with a thin thread. Open it and on the side without thread cut about 2mm of it. Close the spring refit it on the seal, fit all on the fork and between the seal and the dust protector fill with some grease, if you have silicone based or water proofed better.
The reason for this grease is, despite the dust cover, some dust, sand and water penetrate with the action of the fork and, with the grease between, these never reaches the seal

Well you have to clean this space and renew the grease from time to time.

I installed Seal Savers, no more leaks, no more cleaning the seals.
Best $27 investment I've made.

Plus they protect your tubes from those nasty scratches and dings.

48mm KYB seals can only be installed in '03 and up forks. WP seals usually leak because there is some crap stuck in them. they only have a single lip, where the japanese seals have multiple and its a bit harder to have something stuck under all of the lips.

Leaky fork seals

Big problem with upside downs must be cleaned more often also make sure the axel floats on the right side fork pinch bolt if not alined will bind up half way down will ware seals.

I replaced my fork seals, then blew another, then someone told me to use CRF450 dust caps,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,never leaked since and thats 1300kms! And I dont clean them or anything!
So I would say that they are an ideal solution, as they are a smaller diametre. Give em a try.
I was for ever replacing f/seals in my WR250.

Ditto on the SEAL SAVERS! I haven't had to mess with my seals at all. They work great. Still a good idea to take 'em off once in a bit and make sure everything stays clean. They take a beating but the forks don't, and the SEALSAVERS are cheaper and faster than taking forks apart. BTW, has anyone ever unscrewed the lower fork leg away from the axle casting end? Thanks, BD
