Did anyone see this year's Le Touquet Beach Race on TV?
I watched the replay on Motors TV on Sunday night.
Awesome Race!
Race was won by Arnaud Demeester on a Yamaha YZF450, narrowly beating Timotei Potisek on a Honda CRF450.
The bikes get up to over 100mph on the main straight which must be over 2 miles long before hitting the return loop through the deep sand and artificial jumps / dunes.
Each lap is around 9 or 10 miles long (i think) and the race runs for 3 hours.
I thought the track looked ideally suited to the power & speed of the 550 or 650 'Berg.
Does anyone know of any Husaberg-mounted riders taking part in the race?

start straight is 7km long. hole shot was won by a fireblade engined special.

watched the whole thing live on tv.

Honda CBR 900 Fireblade Wins Le Touquet Enduro Holeshot

The famous Le Touquet Enduropale beach enduro is always an event to see the best of the best riding the best off-road motorcycles. Part of the race, and good for €1500 prize money, is the holeshot, which is some 7.5 kms from the start. Usually, the motorcycles that are trying to win the holeshot are specially prepared, high performance, motorcycles, like the BMW 1200 HP2, or KTM 950's, anything with a big engine that can power the rider along the beach at speeds in excess of 200 kph.

But the 2008 edition of the Le Touquet beach enduro saw an unusual motorcycle take part in the holeshot race, AND win. The motorcycle is not originally an off -road one, it's a Honda 900 CBR Fireblade!

Piloted by Mickael Cavalioska, the street motorcycle had been modified to run in the deep sand, capable of 230 kph, 10 kph more than its closest rivals.

So there you go, a Honda CBR900 Fireblade wins the Le Touquet Enduropale holeshot, a first! As for the race, it didn't go further than the 1st lap.
