Here's a copy of the letter that I sent via the linked web site. I edited it slightly to include some pertinent information.
As the linked story mentions, we just lost 2 million more acres of land open to public multi use here in Califonia, specifically in the Southern California Desert area. This brings the total wilderness designated area, so designatated in the last 15 years to 5.8 million acres of land. In spite of the fact of the scientific evidence that humans are causing harm to those species whom have been idenitified as the primary reason for this designation. The main reason this is happening is the apathy of the majority of the public, and the disinformation provided to the public by various, and I might nefarious environmental groups.

Re: Please oppose H.R. 980
Dear Representative Sherman:
As your constituent and concerned multiple use, as well as motorized outdoor recreationist, I am writing to ask that you oppose H.R. 980, the Northern Rockies Ecosystem Protection Act (NREPA). H.R. 980 will designate 24 million acres as Wilderness and components of the National Wilderness Preservation System in Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Washington, and Wyoming.
By designating over 24 million acres of new Wilderness, this would close all trails to responsible motorized access in these areas. The closure of these trails will be devastating to many friends and families who recreate together responsibly.
Further, it is my understanding that these area's do not meet the criteria of a wilderness designation as they are currently in use by a variety of users, as well as responsible off highway users. As you know, the wilderness act, considers land eligible for wilderness designation only if it has no previous discernable human use.
In addition, from a Congressional law, any road or byway used by the public on public land, shall remain open to the public for perpetuity.
Therefore, I ask that you oppose H.R. 980, as passing it would be in violation of federal law, and outside the parameters of the wilderness act.
Thank you for your time and consideration of this important issue.
Sincerely,
Mr. Dale Edward Covington
