This is for Motocross application only.
There is alot of details to pay attention to, so watch closely:
1. 2004 and 2005 upper and lower will interchange, slide-in slide-out. I did use the 2005 blunt nose needle.
2. When the rear axle is adjusted forward and the rear wheel bottoms, the reservoir will push the wheel guard close to the rear tire. I had to offset (turn CCW) the upper body and spacers. So the reservoir will clear the wheel guard.
3. Check the chain clearance when the wheel bottoms. A loose chain might mark or damage the reservoir.
4. I did cut the bumper pad height down for more wheel travel near bottoming. Use a bumper pad from a 06 KTM or Showa, not the old smaller PDS pad and make sure it extends the full radii to the edge. I can keep softer damping settings on the primary and secondary side to get rid of the sharpness or harsh jolt bottoms, when hitting a square edge hole, while the shock is compress (bottoms later). Even if this was a progressive damping problem, its not anymore.
5. The larger reservoir piston moves (distance) less than the smaller piston. Less energy movement and less nitrogen pressure build-up during compression. KTM likes the bigger piston.
6. After my third ride, I really like it. Especially the cut bumper pad.
