got the chance of a fcr39 from an 04 wr450f amongst all the other bits i was wondering if anyone had tried a ktm jetting kit in a berg.
i know Dale does his berg specific one so am refering to either the JD, FMF or similar jetting kits.

Jetting kits comprise a set of jets and also a chart prepared for such or such model.

As far as the jets go, if the carb is the same (an FCR) then they will fit. The chart is to be discarded of course.

Our inhouse expert here is Dale Lineaweaver and he knows how to rejet a Berg. He also sells his own jetting kit. I have nothing against JD but I am not certain he knows as much as DL when it comes to Bergs.

PM Lineaweaver.

why would i try ktm jetting in a berg?

well. i'm thinking of fitting an fcr39. they're both 400c 4st that use the same carb and the ktm engine was developed from the berg engine.

it was only a thought.

if i do fit it i'll prob will start off using the jetting specs mentioned in the doc.

Pilot Jet, Main Jet, Needle (aka Metering Rod) It's not overly complicated. I spent some time on my bike trying different jets to zero in on what felt best. If you're comfortable with getting into your carb it's a fun and educational process.

If the carb fits I say give it a try. Have a range of jets and needles in hand when you start working on it. There will be some trial and error. Seat of the pants testing is ok but dyno runs and their resulting HP, torque and air/fuel graphs will help you zero in on the right setup.

Also look into the FactoryPro emulsion tube.

Unlike standard emulsion tubes the FactoryPro tube has a line of pinholes along its length to help better atomize the fuel as it's drawn into the intake.

I've kept quiet here about it, since Lineaweaver Racing had the Husabergs covered already.

That being said, since I had the JD needles laying around, yes they do work. I also shortened my AP squirt (used a Honda diaphram), the stock squirt on the 'Berg is way too long, my guess is to make up for the lean needle they come with. The Honda diaphram shortens the squirt to under a second.

The bike runs cooler than with the stock jetting, and fuel mileage is improved.

The carburetor has no idea what make engine it is on. :)

Starting with a known KTM setting will put you on the correct path. Simply tune as required from there.

Regarding Emulsion tubes:

The "Yost" patent must have expired as they have advertised said product for nearly three decades.

PS
Many carburetor manufacturers (including OEM Husaberg Dellorto) offer both primary (No Holes) and Emulsion (any size and / or number of holes imaginable) primary tubes for fine tuning.

do you have the honda part # ? my 07 650 has a 3 second squirt time, lots of fuel wasted

Honda PN should be 16021-MEB-771.
