hi im a newbie with a problem and wondered if anyone on this forum could help me.
i bought a husaberg fx470 at the weekend but the guy had trouble starting it.
probably should of left it but really liked the bike, anyway once i got it running after many kicks on the kickstart it went but once it started to warm up the top end started knocking but only when warm !! im a bit lost with the bike and wondered if there were any common problems with them not starting or what the knocking could be ? she did burn some oil when i revved her 8O

thanks for your help, tom.

Does it knock only when at idle, then when you rev it up does the knocking decrease and disappear?

The noise problem sounds like one I had with a '02 FE650 I once had and the noise turned out to be from a loose nut on the counter-balancer shaft. The hard starting could be partially a plugged pilot jet or an ignition going bad - I also had to replace the ignition on the 650. Also, the auto decompression spring is probably weak which would make the bike hard to kick over fast enough for starting.

hi thanks for the replies, the knocking only occurred when the bike started to warm up and when at idle or revving.
i will clean the jets out and check the nut is tight tomorrow as ive got a day free.
thanks again for getting back to me, tom.
