Knee Braces

Are you after a full on custom fit knee brace or just a bit of extra support? Thor do a hinged brace/protector for about £80, check out www.dirtbikebitz.com they do these and the full on braces.

In the states your going to have more avaliblity than uk europe for these, or so it seems, I've a oldish pair of CTI braces which i dont wear often enought. see my mini-adventure thred for what i mean.

i looked into the Asterisk braces about 12 months ago, sizes, fitting even tried some and did everything short of putting my money down and walking away with a pair. For me those where the dogs dangle.

have a look at whats out as some of the companies have come up with some new stuff in the last 12 months

I use EVS webs they work great. They have save a couple of time. You have to use a liner to make comfortable for long rides. EVS has good customer service. Lost some part to the knee cup called them said sorry and sent me a bag of parts the next day. They cost a lot and comfort is just good.

I have some experience here.....2 acl replacements
CTI custom are **** for comport and brace protection. You can even limit range of motion. Patella protection poor to non extistant even with the phony cup from CTI

Asterisk Very good protection and comfort is not bad I did break both right and left braces just below the knee in the shin area. not impact but hyperextension
THEY DO WORK

I now have a set of the POD's a bud at the bike shop gave me to test before he wears them  what are friends for??
They seem OK pretty good protection but the comfort is well so so. I have fat calves and they seem to want to ride down no matter how tight I strap the upper straps. I have impacted them a few times and they worked as advertised. Worth what I paid

If I was spending my own $$ again ( and I will in the near future) I will go with the Asterisk again.

I have had a pair of pods for the last couple of years. They retail here for $au500 each and I got them via a deal I get through some sponsors for $au300 each. For me they are comfortable, stay put, and eventually you don't notice them when riding. Still managed to dislocate my knee and snap the acl last May though!!! Back on the bike in few months I hope. Better than knee pads, but I guess that ultimately you get what you pay for and nothing is a perfect solution.

Steve,
Once you've worn them for a speel do you find them comfortable etc and not hindering any movement..? I'm looking into some myself.

I'm guessing it's like full body armour...many say they don't like it but I've used for many years Dianese and once it softens up you wouldn't know you were wearing it..

The main thing to come to terms with is that you can't feel the bike as well through your knees. Squeeze and its the brace frames you feel, not the bike. You get used to it.
