The kill switch on my 390 is dead again. I replaced the unit last year while under warranty but now I need a better solution. I was thinking about wiring in an after market kill switch.

My only problem is that I can't find a wiring diagram for the 390. Can anyone help me with what colour wire to connect it to, it would be appreciated.

Have you taken it apart and looked inside? They are prety simple just a couple of contacts inside that grounds out the spark when you press the button. I have had mine a part a couple of times to fix the high/low beam light switch. There may be a simple fix for it.

I took the old one apart and yes there are a bunch of terminals. I tried cleaning everything but nothing helped so I got a new one. I have not taken this one apart yet and it died on my last ride before putting it away for the season.
Spring starts today so I thought I better look into it.
I need to know what wires I need to splice into to connect an after market kill switch.

Hi I look after a fleet of 9 husabergs 2013 models here in Spain, half of which have faulty killswitches.
The easiest way is to fit an aftermarket switch. Remove fuel tank and wire into positive wire to the coil.It is either green or orange Just cut wire and put switch in series .job done. regards David Ogilvy

The wiring diagram in my service manual says blue. Best way to be sure is to try before you do anything. Use a cable to ground the blue cable and see if you can kill the engine.

Thanks for all the help. I tried cleaning out the old one but no luck. I have ordered a new aftermarket switch today. Will give it a try when it arrives.
Thanks, Mike

Finally got around to wiring in the new kill switch. It was really easy. Pick up an after market switch on ebay really cheap.
The kill switches on these bikes really don't last long in the wet.
To replace it, just take the light off. There is a yellow wire with a black stripe plugged into the bike on its own. One new kill switch wire goes in there. The other needs to be spliced into the brown wire in the big plug. Ten minute job. Real easy to do.

you can also wire in a key switch, then you'll have a backup kill switch... just a thought...

a little more kill switch stuff.

i just added lights & switches to my '09. there are 2ea yellow/black wires behind the headlight mask, both are the sensor circuit to the ECU that kills the engine, grounding either one of these will shut off your bike. (providing they're connected at the plug behind the radiator...)

there is ALSO a connection behind the right side radiator where these two yellow/black wires connect to the main harness, it's a regular round barrel connector and is the location where the stock single button kill switch connects to the harness.

therefore, if the barrel connector at the radiator is disconnected the yellow/black wires behind the headlight mask will not do anything....just an fyi.

hope that helps someone.
