kickstarter frozen

FE650e '06: after replacing the WP shaft oil o-ring and the WP shaft seal I noticed an issue. After replacing the side cover and tightening the bolts to the torque in the manual, the kick starter will not move. It is binding on the side cover it seems. if i back out the bolts 1/4 of an inch and pull the side cover off just a hair, when moving the kick starter, i can see that the gear is applying pressure against the side cover.

What would have caused this clearance issue. And, is it fixable at home.

for some reason it would appear that the kickstart mechanism has come undone. i think you need to go through the 123 stages. i suggest you suck up the knowlwdge on the crankshaft dots and then we need you to pull the clutch apart and out, this will release your cam timing so you need to REALLY know that you've got it right.

then go through the process of re-fitting the kickstart spring.

it's in the doc under rebuild.
