Kicker De-comp removal??

Hey all,

New to the Berg bikes and have worked on alot of KTM units and am in need of some advise on this issue.

Can the Decomp on the kicker assy inside the transmission cover be removed completely and only use the auto on the cam and the manual on the lever? I totally understand the need for some type of decomp with a 100mm piston and the cylinder pressures that can be there, but this bike I now own came with a broken kicker shaft and it looks to me like the shaft comes in contact with the kicker when used and this makes it bind and too heavy a left leg and the shaft is the weak link and the end mounted onto the kicker is what snaps off. So can I remove it, or move it out of the way so it is not even being used? If it can be removed what is put into the hold left behind to stop the oil from puking out? Any help would be great as I wanna ride my new (to me) bike!! Can't wait to feel what some have said is superior Husa power and torque!.

Thanks for any help.

Yes, it can be removed.
I would try a bolt, nut, 2 flat washers and 2 o-ring seals to seal the hole. Possibly RTV sealer if you don't want to use o-rings.

Thanks Berger,

Wasn't sure if doing that would cause more issues or if it really was not needed for a normal starting process. Looks to me that the small set screw on the back is what holds it all in place and I will be removing that cable and the lever assy tonight out in the workshop and finishing the assembly of the kicker and clutch parts to finish it off and see how she runs. I have the e-start stuff for it as well and am thinking of putting it on and giving her a new button............. :D :D
