Kick starting an FE400 - technique?

I find it difficult to believe that the poor starting is down to poor technique, there must be another issue. if i lived closer i would pop over and help you out

After some more advice (cheers Mark) I'm going to have a go tomorrow so I'll let you know.... think its a combination of things, and me being new to the bike...

Hi Guys

Latest update as I know a few people saw my bike on ebay - its no longer for sale.... following some sound advice I had a lot more luck this weekend, following my previous failed attempts at starting it - I cleaned the plug up, put some fresh fuel in, adjusted the mixture - then followed the appropriate procedure... (cheers Mark!), initially it took a few attempts, but tried it again after leaving it for a few hours and started first time.... so I'm keeping it to persevere and hopefully have a summer of enjoyment!! Heading over to Barnsley tomorrow night to look at a WR426 with a friend... hopefully I'll have a riding partner then!!

Make sure you dont piss anyone off in barnsley as your likely to get a barnsley kiss!
Im off riding in the dales next sunday if you fancy a ride out
Starting at pately bridge about 9 am.

ha, my sister lives there too - I heard kissing isn't all they get up to!! I'll send you a message....

Woo started 2nd kick tonight (1st was a complete mess up so understandable it didnt go!), then kicked from the saddle too - definitely a much happier berg owner now!!
