My 01 FE 650 somtimes when kicking it over will seem to jamb up about half way thru the stroke. To get it to move I have to pull the hand compression release and the kick start lever will then return and it will kick over. Has anyone had this trouble. Also trying to work out my e start troubles.The starter is the replacement one and the Z7 battery. When the bike was new in 01 it e started hot n cold . Took it in for valve adjustment and the shop replaced the solid gear with the slip type , while installing the slip clutch they had something jamb and couldnt get the engine to turn over. Just wondering if those events are related for the e start troubles. :? :?

i hope others will give their view but i think something is wrong at the kickstart mechanism?
as for the starter, i would think that that is weak and not up to the job anymore.
your decomp lobe is not doing it's job either. there is a new design available that is called the dutch clog so go into the doc and check it out.

need the later decomp bump and spring
starter should be changed to honda or yamaha and mounting modified.

The cam and uloader were replaced about 2 years ago the starter is about a year.Had the bike at the shop during that time it wasnt being ridden.Have it back now checked the compression it look to be about 30 psi when kicking over. Reset the valves too about .005 to .006 to try to remove some of the cranking resistance for the starter havnt rechecked the compression . The original valve springs are in the engine and hear slight rocker noise at that setting.
