Kick Starter??

Hello Everyone,

Does anyone know if you can install a kick start lever on a 2011 FE570s?? I sure would like to have that piece of mind. That seems to be the only missing part of a great bike.

Thank you, Eric.

Here is my question? Without the kick starter, if the battery goes dead, can you push start the bike? Does the Stator generate enough power to enable the fuel injection if the battery is disabled?

If your battery oes bad nothing you can do bike won't run. You can bump start it if the bat is too low to crank but If the battery is mucho your up a creek. Im still on the original battery in my 450 I never put it on a charger either and it has sat for several months no issues

I have the FE 390 2010. I had a battery issue for several rides while my battery was on back order. I was able to push start the bike every time; understand a hill was helpful. As a safety note, I carry a rope so I can drag start the bike if needed always.

I tested drag starting my bike before riding with the dead battery. I found the best technique is to have the rope attached to the handle bars of the bike pulling; feed the rope between the legs; then attach with a quick release grip to my bike. If this is confusing, just call me and will explain.

Thanks for the info on the first hand experience. Glad to know that will work. It makes me a little more comfortable knowing that I won't be totally stranded by a dead battery.

Read on the interweb once about a trick way to start a dead bike.

Don't know if you'd have to pull the running bike up to a rock or tree to hold it.

Basically, line rear tires of bikes up so they're touching, and lean each away from other.

Put dead bike in gear and dump clutch on running bike.

Ok, now I gotta try it next time I go riding. It seems like it might work (in theory).

Idle, this has got to be the coolest trick start I have ever heard of. I will try it tomorrow on my FE 390 2010. If anyone knows where I can find a video it would be great if you post the link.

One thought, I ride with a bunch of KTMs, so we might break a kickstand or two.

Hope this helps.

One day kids will ask why were cars started by hand and motorcycles started by foot. History lesson:

One day it will be all electric start with fuel injection (yep, two stroke included).
