Kick start seal

Hope all is well with everone;
My 2004 450 FE kick start seal has been weeping for some time now.
Need to fix
Question: can the seal be replaced from the outside of the case cover or do I pull the cover to replace the seal

It can be removed from the outside very easily. It usually just falls out when removing the kickstarter.

I will take a closer look although it is not my luck to have it be so easy.
If it does not fall out out any advice as to how to get it out.

Its really just an o-ring. A seal / o-ring pick would do nicely. For a few dollars you can get a decent seal pick set at the local cheapo tool store.

use an 'O' ring with a 3.5mm thickness as the best replacement. can just about get away with 3mm. someing like 18mm ID and 25mm OD would be ideal if i recall.

Hello!
I`m borrowing the thread if you dont mind. I replaced my o-ring when I rebiuld the engine. To a 17Ã‚Â¤3mm o-ring, but its leaking a little bit of oil anyway. Should I get a bigger one?
