One of these days I finally fit a Keihin Flat FCR on my Berg. The carb came from a CRF which as made the WEC (see the pics at my gallery). The man who as supplied to me, have informed that the carb as been tuned to give the best performance at the races.
After I've fitted in my engine I open the gas, just pull the choke give 2 kicks and the engine running as never have been before.

Now my questions are the following:

1 - Why do we have to make the mods explained on the "Owner's doc"?
2 - How can I identify the carb? Is this a 39, 40, 41??
3 - The carb is a bit lower at the bottom, due to a purge tube. How ca I raise it to alow mount the starter? Any ideas please.

Thanks in advance for you guys

1. Don't really know. probably to make it run better but i haven't and it seems fine on my '03 400.
2. sure its stamped on it somewhere but measure the diameter of the carb mouth on the cylinder side, not where the airboot connects.
3. yeah its ok if you have no electric start but other wise it hits. i just ground it off. have had no problems with water or crap ingress yet.

my carb hit (MK1) till i took the 5mm off the inlet rubber and that was ewnough to allow it to miss the starter motor. very close though!

another way is to lift the carb and then 'pinch' the front and rear clips holding the 'boot' and the carb in the inlet rubber.

not sure what you mean by 'GOT TO DO' the things described? all those things make it a better carb. if you reckon you don't need it then who am i to argue!

good luck.

regards

What model / size is your bike ?? You can put that in your signature so others can give you better advice or know if the information may be helpful to them. :)
