Keihin fcr carb!!

Hi,
I have an '03 501 FE which currently runs with the Dellorto carb. I have been told on many occasions that a good modification is to upgrade to a Keihin FCR carb. Could anyone tell me what improvements it would be likely to give me and exactly what I would need to carry out the upgrade and how do I get about jetting it to suit my bike? Which model of Keihin carb do I go for as i have heard the older ones are a bit less reliable?? Also if there is someone out there who has a carb and all the bits I would need for sale please get in touch!

Upgrading it is a breeze, just don't use a crappy aluminum after market fuel screw! :cuss:

You'll need a throttle and cables. When I bought mine, the guy supplied the throttle and cables, but the cables didn't quite work, so I ordered some from Motion Pro (P/N 10-0077) that I think fit well.

As for the carby, they go on ebay frequently. If you don't mind purchasing them in the US and having them shipped, there's a guy that's always listing them, actually lives near me too.
 
if you want cheap cables and a bit longer get wr 450 cables they just need tiny amount of modification to fit are longer and more than half the price

Any yearmodel of WR450? What modifications is needed?
Have just mounted a FCR41 from a KTM520, but wires are realy bad. So I need to buy new.
And KTM520 are almost to short with bar risers.

any year wr 450 there is a slight mod that needs doing you need to file off about 2-3mm off the (hard to explain) where the cables come out of the 90 deg bend as they are going into the throttle tube they butt together where they join this is where you need to file when you have them nearly on do a dummy run and you will see what i mean work great with risers and run in front of triple clamps not behind

Today I visited local Yamaha center. I found that 00-02 YZ/WR 426 looks similar to Hbg cables. But
03-06 YZ/WR450 had one cable with larger treed on carb. side. It will not fit my FCR41.
Original YZ/WR cables was 750 SEK, but pirate Team 10 was 300 SEK (HBG original is 470 SEK)
6.4SEK = 1$

So I bought YZ/WR 426 cables. Haven't mounted them yet...
