I don´t like the Dell orto, and want to change the carp. on my FE 400 e. Which one should i get, why, and are there any problems installing it?

Thank you!
I think i will stick to the Dell, it seems to be to much work with the Keihin. I don´t understand all in the doc:

200MJ, DR266, K35 needle on C1, 40PJ, 3.25mm slide cutaway, 45 choke jet, PS = 1-turn = Sea level (Taffy)
170MJ, DR272, K51 needle on C2, 35PJ, 4.5mm slide cutaway, main air bleed drilled to #53 (1.5mm), pilot air bleed drilled to #60 (1mm). PS to suit (4,000ft) JoeUSA has a 501 but it's similar and worth a try. See this UHE Forum Thread.
195MJ, K51, 33PJ, DR274, 4.5mm slide cutaway, from factory mechanic (Heimar).

What means DR, K51 on c2, how do i make the slide cutaway, and why are there 3 different suggestions on jetting?

The DR Number Is Needle,The K51 Is The Brass Slide And c2 Is The Clip Position From Top. The Cut Away Is The ( Shape On The Slide.
You Use A File And Follow The Shape Till Its Open To About 4.5mm,Then You Do The Idle Cut Out.......The Bit Where The Screw Touches,You Need To File That To Match What You've Done.
At Least Thats What I Think Anyways.

we're here to help. yes there is a lot to putting a keihin carb on but all the info is there.

DR is the emulsion tube size. DR264, DR266, DR268, DR 270 and DR272 are the sizes. they work like a needle helping at mid range. K51 or K35 are the two favourite needles on that model.

the slide cutaway is really really easy to do with a file. it's the height difference from the base. how tall the mouth is.

3 different suggestions
mine-i did 50-60 tests and it is a 400! and at that time it was fairly standard.
heimar had advice from a factory mechanic for his 501 and joeusa gave us lineaweavers settings for his 501.

and no there is virtually no difference in jetting between the 400 and 501 before you ask! the 400 should be a little leaner on the MJ.

i didn't have heimar and joe's figures to help me othewrwise i may have tried a larger emulsion tube/atomiser at DR270/272 etc.

regards

Taffy
