Finally got the old girl all back together today and after 100 to 150 kicks (or so it felt like!!) the snap crackle of my 650 filled my quiet street once again ( i have several elderly neighbours who were happy to see it in bits lol).
Any way with the taffy sm kit installed it popped and banged a couple of times and there ya go.
The tricky bits have been down to the fact that it is a carb i bought from e bay and it came from the US. There was this guy on there who seemed to have a few of these brand new. Taffy had reckoned it may be an ATV one or such like and being american it had a vacuum spigot out to the side for emission purposes, the pilot screw is sealed off to prevent tampering, also the slow air jet is totally different to the one supplied in his kit, me thinks a call to the taffy will put it straight............. :)
It seems to be doing the job so far, the old dellorto even jetted properly, at best only lasted a few rides before needing adjusting to suit the weather, forever messing with the pilot air scew and ran really hot all the time.........ggggrrrrrr
The only trouble now is that yorkshire, is covered in polar bears bedding and my riding skills don't do horizontal!!
Was just gonna ask if any one else has one of these too??
Taffy had came across them before and i read a few posts on the thumper forum too 8O

I'll let you know how i go on with the 39 as people reckon its better suited to the smaller cc bergs?

Hey to Crispin, long time no speak pal, hows the wheels finish holding up?

hi m8 just put an fcr on mine too but a 41mm not a 39 i got it off a crf 450, i did c on another forum that they dont run right well on idle because of the idle jet or slow air jet having its seprate air intake on the air box so i did some mods to mine to make it connect like to the carb like it does on the crf seems to work ok and gangs of torqe to it now compaired to the dellorto carb but still needs a few tweeks as its got a flat spot but well worth the change good luck wi urs m8

fitting the fcr to a dellorto equipped bikes is one of the best things that can be done to them and pretty straight forward compared to other stuff.

Re: DUMP THE DELLORTO

Just to continue on this thread.........................
The keihin is a total transformation to the berg, along with the seat mod, it is like a new bike. Previously with the dellorto, second gear roll on wheelies were as easy as you like, NOW, third gear seems to be the prefered roll on wheelie gear and i can now do a smooth 30 mph (when required) without it choking and stuttering 8O
All in all i am so glad i changed over and can heartily recommend it to anyone who is trying to make that decision..................DUMP THE DELLORTO
