Hi all Bergers,

I have decided to upgrade to FCR Carb. Just bought one off Ebay from USA. I have no knowlege about em' so if somone in here can tell me from looking at the pictures if this one will fit and what problems lies ahead I will be greatfull.

And what kind of FCR this actually is.

It was advertised as 2007 MX 41 FCR Hotstart-Choke-TPS-Remote idle-Accelerator pump.

Is it Mk1 or Mk2 ??

I do not have it in hand yet, but allreay paid for !!! So fingers crossed. Have i screewed up or not ??

oops double posted. see below for some more details about this pic

Pretty sure thats a MK2, not sure about the Bentley though!

Think you may have issues with clearance over the starter motor.......... sure someone will fill you in on the details shortly Husaden.

Good luck and enjoy the power to come.

from Schleenbecker-Moto.de - allows fcr to be bolted to pre 04 bikes with minimal fuss when combined with the newerrubber bit as well.

used it to put an fcr on my '03 400. pics are in my gallery in the 'modifications' sub album

what bike is it going on ?

on my 400 the vent pipe on the bottom of the float bowl hit the starter so i just ground it off, never had any problems.

on a bigger bike you might not have a problem.

as its a 41mm carb i'm guessing you got a 550 or 650?

Cypher,

It's for my 650. I read a lot about this upgrade on the forum and it seems that there is so many versions which lead to different problem on different bikes. But it's good to prepare yourself for the fitting problems.

I get the idea with the alu intake you pictured. It'll then need a rubber to clamp the carb in. But looking at your pictures you havn't used your self ??

I could be blind....

Check with member Kzoo, I'm pretty sure he put a MK 2 on his 03 400, and with the 650 having a taller barrel you should have more room for the carb.

I don't know for sure as I do not have personal experience.

I do know that it is a MK 2 though. And it's either a KTM or Japanese carb as it has the float bowl drain screw and the float bowl over flow is off the bottom. Whereas the Husaberg fcr float bowls do not have a drain, and the overflow goes straight back instead of down.

I tried to put one of those bowls on my fcr b/c I wanted a leak jet. The float bowl drain/overflow would fit but it was too close for my liking so I just drilled and tapped my original bowl for the leak jet. So, if you have a clearance problem and want to remedy it you can buy a leak jet drilled float bowl from JD jetting that has the original berg bowl over flow set up. You can't really get to the flow bowl drain screw anyway as the collector/mid pipe will be in the way.

That's a Mk 2 as advertised.

I fitted a MK1 on my 400 and found that the float bowl just touched the starter but it work just fine. I had to get new cables and twistgrip for the push pull setup as I had a single cable domino twistgrip before.

The rubber inlet on my bike fitted straight onto the screw in aluminum spigot on the carb. I had to shorten the spigot slightly to fit the grooves to the ribs in the rubber. It looks like your spigot is cast into the carb body. Try it on your stock rubber and see what it needs once you get it.

You may need to switch the fuel inlet to the right side to avoid the exhaust. Sudco makes a converter thingy. They are a great resourse for Kehin parts. http://www.sudco.com/Carburetor/SudcoKeihinCatalog.pdf

I just put mine on there with the jets it came with and it ran reasonably well. You've gotta start somewhere. I then got a jet kit and some advise from Taffy and got it dialed in. You'll be glad when you do

i'm a little concerned that again a production carb may have been purchased. i think that the belmouth is cast in? can we have a photo of the back of the carb? do you have a bolted on belmouth?

regards

Taffy

Thanks for your inputs.

Can take no pictures as I don't have it here yet. I doni know much about it, just took a chance. The seller told me it was "straight bolt on", but that what some sellers do !

On pic 0844 it looks like some cover is missing right in the middle of the carb. Air diaphram ?????

All i know at this point is from looking at those pics.

It comes with cablea and also throttlegrip

Really hope the end result is good, and not too expensive in the end. I ended up paying 346 USD or 215 GBP for it. A bit more that I wanted to but you easily get carried away on ebay !

Will kep you posted, and take more pictures when it arrives.

and what does that mean for me ?? That it will not fit on the boot ??? Will i have to go with musroom filter straight on carb ???

Anders, DK

it's a casting for american air pollution 'stuff'. i am on about the thing that looks like saturn and two moons (screw holes).

Taffy

wel well, I still don't get it. I will have to wait ans see the carb for real.

Cheers,

Anders, DK

ok ok i get i now. You where referring to the missing stuff on the side... (Answar to my own question..)

So is it supposed to be there, or ok looking like that ??

Finally i'm putting this thing on the bike !

Today I put the FCR-MX 41 MK 2 on my bike. There was enough space in there for it, even with the drain going straight down from bowl. I cut 5 mm off the original rubber inlet and the bike fired up no problems. Real easy starting, major difference is the hot start that is now also instant. All I did was clean it and take note of all the numbers inside....

It ran ok with no real bogs, but I am sure I need to spend some time tuning it anyway, but first of all i need it to fit proporly on the filter side.

The carb is a bit "special" as it has no adaptor on the filter side, nor any boltholes for an adaptor.

Please take a look a my pictures. What are your suggestions for this to fit into the ruber boot ??

Also i found that there is no Main Air jet fitted, nor any threads for it ???? Just a 4 mm hole, narrowing down to approx 2 mm going into the main-stream.

The Numbers are,

FCR 35G21H29 C375
Slide 15
Leak jet 35
Needle NCY R C3, 7 grooves total
Slow Jet 42
Slow air jet 100
Start Jet 75
Main Jet 170

No mods done to the APJ stuff, the diaphram is the one with 2 mm high "shaft"

Would really like to hear from someone with similar carb/bike running a Taff Hi Tq cam

Any jetting info also appreciated.

A few more pics

FCR MK2 (MX) never have a adaptor in the air intake side.
What you need is a piece of Tube to connect your air booth to the carb or you need a 2004+ air booth..

Snorro,

That sounds simple.... So you are saying that the 04 boot will be a straight fit ??? Now that I have cut some off the intake rubber, maybe I am to buy a 04 rubber there as well to get the gap right ???

Someone tried this ?

Thanks,

Anders, DK
