After a several month hiatus I finally have all my updated parts. :D
My 02 Fe650 motor is whole again, either tonight or tomorrow morning I'll be firing her up again. :D :D

I have a 2002 fx650 with updated rockers and balancer bearing that has no time on it,since new. I don't plan on running this bike too hard.What issues did you have with yours and how long was the fuse? :D .....nsman

Nsman & Boss the counterbalancer let loose at about 110hours. Updates are double-row balancer, and rockers (when they get here, uhgg). New main bearings and seals, that pretty much is it.

Bad news it fires but wont run. It will die immediately, but if I give it gas it will run for 3-5seconds. I am sure I lined up the crankshaft and intermediate timing gear, but since it is an 02 I am not sure the cam is perfect (I made scratch marks on it but who knows). I am sure that if the cam could be off it would only be one tooth. The valves are spot on, filter clean etc...

Any suggestion would be much appreciated.

It sounds good to me but my neighbor, who knows squat about bergs, said it sounded as if it were seizing. It may make a slight cracking sound as it dies, but I am not sure.

I already checked for a rag! :lol:

cam lobes facing downwards, dots on gears split, piston at top? remove float bowl nut and see if fuel flows ok?
 
cam lobes both up and evenly set with the piston at TDC and the tensioner released. even if one lobe is slightly above the other-change it!

if you turn the engine several times; eventually you'll get the same crank-piston-cam lobes position AND the split link will be within reach!

then and only then, turn the engine 360d and have the lobes down. NOW you can fit the rocker cover.

this however is unlikely to be your problem!

BOSS, yes,yes,yes, I think so when I pulled the plug it looked fairly wet. I put a new one in and it made zero difference.

My only thoughts as to the timing would be that instead of having the cam straight down it could turned a tooth and I may not have been able to tell that it wasn't perfect.

I strapped a Maxxis IT 120-100-18 on the back, it was shooting roost like a cannon up into the sky. On a fairly hard pack area, practicing my starts, it was leaving 50ft trenches. 8O 8O
