So I was flying along a great trail last night about 5 miles from town. There a lot of big random rocks here so I don't look too far ahead usually, and a good speed is about 30 MPH on these unknown trails. Anyways I got past some rough stuff and opened the bike up on a nice smooth section of sand and gravel and came up over a hill and ambushed a HUGE wolf who was eating a dead Caribou. It had to be 150 pounds and pure white. AMAZING. He took off faster than I could go over the rough terrain and I shut down and watched him go across the bog and up a mountian stop at the top and give me a look then down the other side. It was a spiritual experience. His paw print was as big as my hand at least 5-6 inches across. Anyways here's roughly where it happened.

I had a similar experience this year in Northern Ontario, I just crested a small hill on an old logging road, speed was about 80-90 km/hr, a Big Black Bear ran out from the edge of the road a 45 deg angle, he/she was intent on crossing the road. I had a split second to make a choice, it seemed to me at the time that if I hit the brakes I would T bone the bear, so I open the throttle as far as she would go, the Bear did not change course and as I went by the Bear it ran right into the side of the bike right behind my right leg! I managed to keep the bike upright and was able to look back to see the Bear tumbling over and over on the road. I thought, HOLY **** I've just killed a Bear, it seems they are way tougher than that as the beast got up shook its head and ran off into the woods. Not a spiritual experience for me, it happened so fast that I didn't really have time dwell on it. This happened while on a 5 day ride to Abitibi Canyon, you can read about the ride here (http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=479466&highlight=Abitibi) if your interested.

I hit a wombat once at night in only the moonlight. As least I wasn't going fast. Was kinda like hitting a moving rock!

I would not want to be laying on the ground beside an angry bear and a broken bike. YIKES your lucky.
