hi guys,
ive just been and got myself a FE400 a 2003 model which has just had a mojor rebuild but i have a few problems-

kickstart is weeping oil? simple fix?

seems to be water running around the waterpump, is this just a new gasket or something deeper?

why does the starter have high andlow on the switch?

slight top end rattle, is this normal or needs attention?


What parts are interchangeable, between makes and models and also what are the elctric starts like on these?

is there anything i need to addres sbefore i start using it in anger?

Welcome!

1. Pull the kickstart lever and replace the O-ring. It sits right on top of the side cover.

2. The water pump seal, bearing/seal and shaft o-ring needs to be replaced.

3. The Hi Lo switch changes the ignition curve.

4. The top ends are a bit noisy. Check you cam chain adjuster to see how worn the timing chain is.
