Late 2013 I got the "brilliant" idea of investigating how to go about tuning my 570FE. The bike is used for ice racing so the OEM engine setup is, to put it mildly, boring as it falls on its nose just as it gets fun.
So I did the usual, poked around and asked questions, dreamed a bit, more questions, and I must say thanks for all ideas and input, this is a true enthusiast forum no doubt!
Anyhow my dream was reduced (as always) to something more manageable time/wallet wise, and it came as a surprise to myself my goal this autumn was to make a sensible modification, rather than go bananas and have a broken engine watching the others ride, familiar It would also be bonus points for using stock parts, even more lame maturity stuff eh.
As I had a good year and some to think it through I started asking my self what is it exactly you want/need??
To be competitive you need a bit more top end like the 560SMR tuned, but then some tracks are twisty and then a wide range comes in quite handy, you all see Im into the impossible equation here hehe.
So I started measuring the head and inspecting, learning this new to me head.
Then I calculated intake airspeed and it was way too high, came to the conclusion the intake ports need to come up 1,5mm diameter to have the airspeed I like at 8700. The exhaust ports I found not too small but I laid the short radius back and widened the floor a bit, unshrouded the valves and minor combustion fiddling, plus the usual matching intake/TB etc.
I actually dont know what these heads like, I just tried what worked on other mark heads, roulette
For fueling I got a sneak tip from this site, a bazzaz unit for the 570.
A member on here made them do it, thank you for that! It worked out the box. The map it came with was a bit interesting, but I was going to redo that anyway, just wanted a cheap piggy working, and it did!
I unhooked the lambda probe and used that bung for the LM2 logger, and with that disconnected anything up and including 60% throttle was perfect, so hat off for the Berg crew here (OEM map).
To sum up I kept everything pretty much stock but a CP-piston and modifications to the cylinder head and I cut the cooler wings out as the airbox is too small and no goo will ever come in there on the ice.
This is a thread to say thanks all for input and keep going! If I can help back, dont hesitate to ask! Did the mapping today and Im pleased with the smooth shape, should be easy to ride.

Never did dyno it untouched, but I mapped a KX450 hicomp with a hotcamII, and that one is pretty quick, think Im going to like this setup, test ride this weekend.
