Jump starting

Being an 02 owner the leccy boot has given me a few probs, its got to the stage where it always starts well on the kickstarter but the leccy boot wont touch it.

Playing about today found that while jump starting it from a truck battery it wouldn't fire up if i bypassed the relay but when i jumped the battery side of the relay and used the starter button it fired up instantly............. great news as it means i just need a better battery but still a bit confusing.

Has anyone else come across this?

yes mate

basically we're trying all kinds of tricks with a 12V 8ah battery when all along a 12V 9/10ah battery will overcome a lot of the problems.

I know a bigger battery will spin it fast enough Taffy, i was asking about the why it would fire up one side of the relay and not the other.

did you have the key on? and if i'm not mistaken, the button needs to be pushed for the 12v boost to the coil to happen.

Cheers Ned, yes the key was on but it must be the boost to the coil from the button.

Just a decent battery to go and i'll have a Berg that starts on the button.
