Joel Smets replicas?

I have two down here in Victoria. a 1999 Factory Smetts Special Edition and a 1997 replica, or as some may call it a faithful representation of the 1997 race bike. Unfortunately the 99 was robbed of the exhaust so its an incomplete bike in the sense of comparing it to the brochure for the Smetts edition.

Smets

Hi Fe racer. While it is very cool to have a real Smets replica, don`t worry to much. Every bike Husaberg ever made was the same thing as Smets used. There was only one model frame, engine, suspension, etc at any given time. Forget the billet this and the Ti that. That "factory race part" thing was way beyond anything Husaberg had time or resources for. Hence the astonishing quality of all our Bergs. Those multi world championships were a miracle. The entire tiny company must not have slept for the whole season to pull those off. While stock was used, you better believe it was all honed to death. As I learned helping at national level endurance racing, if you got 4 hours till start, you work for 4 hours. 2 days, same thing. No such thing as good enough. Smets and company lived this for years. Tough guys, earned every accolade they ever got!
If memory serves, HRC, Honda`s racing arm, had a thousand employees! And yes, Husaberg beat them too. L
