great stuff, hopefully KTM doesn't gobble him up

Was thinking the same thing. I don't think KTM is totally happy about this.

Shush, Taffy. You're never a junior when you ride a Husaberg.

not very fair taffy old chap.... world champion is world champion whatever your age!
(be different if it was one of your students  )
he competed against his peers on the machines of their choice and he and his BERG won through..... good on yer joakim!!
(notice it was an orange shirt in second?)

A junior world champ who is posting faster special test and overall times than many of the seasoned veterans in the E1, E2 & E3 class. He has been putting in better times than Bjorne Carlsson who finished 4th in the E3 class behind David Knight (and just beat Carlsson for the Swedish championship). The guy is the real deal and the EJ class gets just as much attention at these events as the other classes.

Joakim is a great kid with a bright future in this sport. He is very dedicated and focused and he is a heck of a nice guy as well. His only distraction seems to be the trophy girls. :D

Check out this interview of david Knight & Joakim Ljunggren from the WEC web site. Knight loves Canada and Ljunggren loves Husaberg.....perfect! :D :D

WORLD CORONATION FOR DAVID KNIGHT and JOAKIM LJUNGGRENN

Sacred at the end of GP MAXXIS SLOVAKIA, David KNIGHT (GB-KTM) and Joakim LJUNGGREN (SUE-HUSABERG) deliver us their impressions.

After a perfect season, David KNIGHT has conquered his second world title in Enduro 3 on MAXXIS FIM World Enduro Championship.

"It is an exceptional season for me but it is not finished yet. Since the GP of SWEDEN we discovered many different tracks. I think that this diversity is good for our sport. An Enduro rider must be able to ride on all grounds. I really did appreciate the GP of CANADA. It was the first time for the WEC on the Northern American continent and a lot of people supported me there like nowhere else. It has truly been a great adventure for me.
I took this year even more pleasure than the last year. I really do enjoy this second title ".
In 2007, Knighter will try the American adventure in GNCC but hope to come back in WEC.
"I decided to go there for one season; it is a challenge which interests me. However I appreciate the WEC and I will ride again in world championship. At first, I think of taking part in the Canadian and American sleeves of the WEC 2007. But today I am still on the world championship 2006 and I want to enjoy fully my title. There is still another test, the final in Boussac; I want to gain it so that my season is complete. "

Like David KNIGHT, Joakim LJUNGGREN claims his first world title in Enduro Junior.

"It is wonderful. I was a little nervous this morning at the beginning of the race because Marc BOURGEOIS and Jacob STAPLETON could still dispute this title to me. I had at the same time to follow their rhythm and to ensure a place on the podium.
The season has been long, I was injured with my hand, I did not dare to imagine that I will be world champion. Anyway it’s fantastic because I carry out the junior championship since the GP of SWEDEN. I could not better start besides since I rided in my country.
Now I already think about next season. I want to remain at HUSABERG Team. All the staff has been perfect with me this year. I want to thank them. I don’t know yet in which category I will ride in 2007, I would like to be in Enduro 2 class and why not, to be in the TOP 10."

Also gents, I would think that KTM loves the fact that Joakim won, being that Husaberg is a KTM company, being that no other rider was on a KTM that was in the top three riders so he IS the best representative that they have.

Kudos to the young man, and as our esteemed Coffin has said, he has a great future ahead of him. All the best to him in the future.

How true that is. He is very fast and solid for such a young fellow, kind of reminds me of another blazing fast swede in his youth on a Hbg fe350, that is Anders Eriksson. Hbg also has another potential younger gun in Salonen, time will tell.
