my 03 fs 650 was flooding realy badly so i pulled the carb this is what i found
main 185 x
pilot 40
choke 45
emulshion tube dr 268 x
needle k51
can anybody tell me whats wrong with this picture .
And taffy do you have a float valve and seat

you have the wrong emulsion tube and i question whether you should have a 185MJ in there? i would have thought a 195? now in the 7 years i've been a member, i've never jetted a bike up.....

first time for everything.

you need a DR272 and while you're there you may want to check your PJ. this should be a 33, or 35 or a 38Pj maximum. i also recommend a #40 choke jet. i would look at that K51 really closely but get one of those as well.

if you're choking at the bottom end i suggest that you check the correct TDC and get that sorted as per the doc and a load of photos i put in there last week. no excuses from now on.

also sooty at the bottom and can mean impending doom with the SEM....

i don't have a float valve and seat but if i can help - call me! i don't think in a month of sundays that this is your problem. just chack the floats look even from the back and not just the side like everyone does. you're looking for twist as well as level.

regards

Taffy

Will be changing the needle and emulsion tube as a matter of course so i'll go for the
original setup of dr272 +k51
As for the flooding if i put the taps on and kick it half a dozen times within 5mins petrol fills the rubber boot to the air filter so must be float valve and seat .
In regard to the jetting i'll try your recommended sizes .
the ignition seems fine i know its not the most scientific way but pulled the plug earthed it to the motor and kicked hell outa it big fat blue spark every time

cheers matey
