I just picked up a new (to me) 2008 FE 450, with 6 hours on it. I still have a JD jet kit from my 2007 KTM EXC 525 that I never used. Will it work in the Berg? I think they have the same carb so I hope so.
will prolly work, but most berg owners use more specific info. try researching "$40 spruceup" or something like that by buzzard. its a thread that will enlighten you. the jd kit is sort of a black box when it comes to needle profiles.
i would ride the new berg for a while before i tried it. even if it's an improvement it's not ideal because three years ago on here lineaweaver put one against his needle and there was a VAST difference. I do a jetting kit. check out the links below if you want to invest again.
This is a good a place as any to report my results with Taffy's kit. In this case, it went into my '07 FE650. It had been running miserably, but when I realized that the previous owner (his dealer actually did it) had it waaaay off (40 Pilot Jet and 175 main, needle in 3rd spot) it was no wonder why.
Anyway, Taff's kit and "dialing in" directions have produced the screaming rocketship that the 650 is supposed to be. I have a short choke time even in cool weather. The response from the bottom is terrific, and it is still accellerating hard in 6th gear when I reach 80mph.
Thanks Taffy! You're pretty smart, for an Englishman.
I'll second that I turned my 08 550 from slug to missile with Taffys kit. Milage was vastly improved as well as start/restart. You canexpect full supprot for the product as well. Highly recommended
