The readings Im getting from my stator for primary resistance are good 278kohms Red-Black and 160ohms Green-Black but Voltage is down only 17.6v when kicked Red-Black and 0.52v Green-Black.

Dont tell me its dead and I need a new one

what model?

what husaberg model do you have?
i measured mine (95 fe 600) at 1.8 kohms (black-red) and some ohms the black-green and it works fine.
i think that 278 kohms are too much.
what instrument you used to measure the voltage?

Its a 2003 Fs650e. the readings for the resistance for the stator are within parameters set in the hard start guide.
I used a Digital Multimeter to record the readinds.

Is it posable to rewire the yellow wires to run the ignition?

i saw hard starting guide reference and it sais 3 kohms for red-black.
using a digital multimeter to measure the voltage is wrong because these instruments are made to measure ac voltages of some specified frequency(50/60 Hz). for any other frequency the readings will be wrong(higher frequency will effect a higher voltage reading and vice versa)

is there a possibility to set the multimeter to a wrong range? check it and measure the resistance again.
the voltage can only be measure with an osciloscope (then you will have to calculate the effective voltage)

Ah forgot the decimal point its 2.78k ohms not 278k ohms.

Theres no mention of an osciloscope in the Hard start guide :)

if the measurements in the hard starting guide were made with multimeter then ok, they are good to refer to when doing the same thing.

you have no spark at all? have you cleaned the flywheel internal surfaces?

Hi Guys,

If the R-B voltage is less than 20VAC , the stator is toast. A normal stator will put out 30-35VAC. I have had to replace the stator on my 2000 FE501E twice.

Regards,

Joe

Is it possible for the stator to play possum.. this morning I was tiding up from yesterday and the multimeter was still attached to the red-black leads, "I'll give it a little kick, see what its putting out again" 25v 8O put spark plug in and kick it over, nice blue spark, whack it all back together kick it over and she fires up, go for a little ride and its fine.
Im going to take some more readings now to see what voltage it putting out now.
I think the pixies have been over night :)

Well the Voltage has dropped back to 18v but it still fires up and runs OK :?
Cant understand it, according to all Iv read it shouldnt work.

Next thing to try is mesure the voltage once it fired up.

Sounds like you have an intermittent short in the primary ignition charge coil.

Not reliable, may leave you stranded some where.

Yes, this a bit of a worry, but at the price a new stator is Im going to try and get every last bit of use out of this one, and if I do get stranded theres always the AA :D
