Isn't there a KTM stator that will work?

Hi all, i have a 99 FC600 and it has no spark. It seems as though some pieces of the flywheel coating cracked off and tumbled around in there for a while. It took some small chunks out of the very outside of the aluminum part of the actual SEM. I tested it however and all resistances checked out, and i did see a spark ONCE when i was kicking it, so i think my stator might be useable. I would just like to replace the flywheel, but the husaberg bastards only sell the stator and flywheel as a package for $408.

I was wondering if there is a KTM part number for the flywheel that interchanges with the Husa part number? It seems like i was searching through these pages and saw it somewhere..... Or does anyone have one that they may part with? Really wanting to ride this bike this time of year.....

Thanks in advance

Now is that nice Hondaguy....put a little sugar on it for better results! :D

Search for the "SEM no more" thread, I think the KTM 1995 LC4 stator might fit your bike. Stator only costs around $160.

hi, correct me if i am wrong but the post's title requests whether a ktm stator will do but in your thread you ask for a flywheel. what is it anyway?

Sorry, but in my book when you know that your bikes SPECIFICALLY have frequent problems with a particular part, do nothing to correct it, then charge your loyal customers an arm and a leg for the part, that makes you a bastard.

Also to clear things up i was looking for the flywheel, sorry for the miscommunication. This is a great site, and i already have a line in a used ignition, but does anyone know if the flywheel and stator off of a 2002 electric start husa will work?

Thanks

Husabergs now don't have the SEM ignition anymore, the Kokusan does a marvelous job.

I do not know where you found you $400 price. For the bundle (FW + stator) it's usually around $260. For just the stator (what you usually need to change, the FW being nothing but a spinning magnet), it's usually $160, even a bit less if you order from Munn in Waco, TX using the KTMTalk discount (-15%).

The flywheel seems to have changed in 2001, but I do not think the stator did.

Here is a photo of the one on my 2001:

Hondaguy,

There is currently a flywheel only selling on ebay out of the UK but is for an '03 FS650e which does run the SEM ignition. You are looking for the flywheel for a '99 FC600 and this just might work. There is 2 days left of bidding for the flywheel and it is at $18.32 USD and the seller says he will ship world wide. Take a look to see if this part will cross over and bid the heck out of it, should be able to pick it up for ~$50.... much less than buying from a dealer.

Flywheel link on ebay

Thanks for the help again, I am watching the one on ebay, will call a dealer tomorrow to see if it fits. I also called munn racing in Waco, and they said they weren't a husaberg dealer. If i can find a dealer to sell the package for the $260 price, i'd be happy. Does anyone know of a dealer that does, because mine (midwest ktm) quoted me $408.

Dude, I never said that Munn was a Husaberg dealer, but that the stator from the KTM 1995 LC4 fits the older Husabergs and that if you order from Munn through ktmtalk.com you could get 15% off.

1995 lc4 stator is identical with husaberg models up to 1998.
the year 1999 flywheel was reversed and the coils of the stator changed.
resistance values of the ignition coils are very different between the "older" and the "new" one stator, i wouldn't byu a ktm stator if i were you

Call Euro Motors, 810.653.9684, I be willing to be he'd be very reasonable on pricing.

The flywheel on ebay is mine. Sorry I don't have abtter pic.
I have no idea on what other models and years this will work on. I made a post a few days ago but nobody replied.
Good luck on the auction
