I picked up an 05 FS650C in Seattle a few weeks ago. It runs well but the wiring is a mess and it weeps oil from a few case bolt holes as well as the bottom seam between crankcases. I'm watching the oil level like a hawk and plan to try and tear this thing apart at the end of the summer to resolve all the issues, especially the wiring. My first plans are to put on an aftermarket stator and rec / reg in an effort to convert the bike over to DC. The Trail Tech kit is nice but I'd like to try and squeeze more than 100W out of that. However, the major limitation appears to be stators and / or flywheel magnets. Beefy rec / regs can be be had from the likes of Trail Tech, Revival Cycle, Rick's, et al, but stators seem limited to custom rewinds and the like, which could be a fun project, but I'm rambling now.
