Hello ive just bought this engine which is a 501 from 2001 and ive noticed that this is diferent to others 2001 engines which has the starter motor near the oil filter because this, as you can see, is in front of the cylinder.

I would like to know if i can start the motor with the button start when its cold without risk that the sprague begin to slip or break as some 2001 engines does. By now it start quickly cold or warm.

that looks like a 98-00, not a 2001

should be a sweet engine......

not as bad as the later engines as far as sprague failure but you should still cold start it with the kick if possible

Yes the seller told me it comes from a 2001 501 FE but ive seen that the engine its a 2000. So it is recomended to pull the descomp lever when i press the e-starter button and later release the lever ? A friend has told me that in that way the sprague/clutch of the e starter suffer less. What do you think ?

I think your mate should be shot.

you can't start a Husaberg on the decomp lever. it is there to aid turning the engine over but by the very reason you are turning the engine over quickly it CANNOT start! there is a man who once let go at the perfect moment and will claim that it is possible but for the rest of us it doesn't work 100%.

fact is you can't fit an engine with the starter motor infront into your frame.

I think the engine is worth reasonably good money so sell it and next time get the right one OK?

regards

Taffy
