hi guy
it sounds to good i am a bit scared is delo 400 the go
thanks

This is a quote from an old post from Steve:
Dale Lineaweaver put us on to the DELO (Diesel Engine Lubricating Oil) 400 some years ago. He sold a Husaberg branded version of it in a past life and I think was involved in some way with its development at Chevron.
He stated that the LE (Low Emissions) version is not as suitable as the previous, and still available non LE standard version. There is a post/thread from him some years ago describing the change in formulation and its consequences. I understand that the non LE version is only available in bulk in NA and not generally available retail in smaller packaging.

Dale Lineweaver has a pretty impressive resume on his web site http://www.dlineaweaver.com/

I have just gone to Delo 400 from Belray thumper and think it is no better. The clutch is stickier when cold which bothers me a bit, not that I give it any until warm but I often roll away before engine is fully warmed up and take it easy until warm, when doing this it stalls. That doesn't happen with Belray. Apart from that the clutch performance and engine noise all seem the same, I am pretty comfortable with Delo due to the extensive use and testing by people on this site that love their Bergs.
I do have a obsession with oils these days, can't read enough about them.

I bet your clutch steels are warped, the thumper is slipperyer, clutch warps quicker from slipping but the warped plates respond better to the slippy oil.

you could try some moreys at 10% with the delo, that will get a bit longer out of your warped plates, if you'd used delo from the start the chutch would still be fine. thats what Ive found at least.

2 guys I know have been using delo for a year in their rice burners, they both changed oil together on the weekend and used up the last of some belray thumper..... both clutches went about 1 hr later.

the difference between the 2 is nothing to be worried about, its just that the thumper is slippereyer if thats a word.

I have been planning to check the plates they get some abuse. I will get some from our old mate in Orange and make sure I change them before they are totally shagged, not real keen on being stuck on the side of some snotty hill with no clutch.
You've convinced me not to give the Belray another go as a cross check.
Cheers.
