Is a 2004 engine interchangable with a 2008?

HI everyone,

i'm considering purchasing a 2004 650, but i have a 2008 550. what i'm thinking about doing is taking the 650 engine out and putting it in my 550 frame. Would this work without any modicications? and could i interchange the engines back and forth between frames?

I have a 2002 engine in my 2008 frame no problems whatsoever. The 2004 to 2008 swap will be even easier since the both have the same ignition, I had to do some rewiring to position the 2002 ignition stuff.

Thanks for the answers! How about for a 2000 600 frame? Could i interchange engines between my 2008 and a 2000 frame?
