Hello i have a 2005 Fs650e the engine has just been rebuilt including new liner new piston rod kit crank bearings and valve stem seals since being rebuilt i have had an intermittent problem on start up it smokes like its burning oil for the first minuite or so then clears up and is fine for the rest of that day any help is appreciated

That's what's happening to me ...we find out that the engine case is damage from previous rebuild or owner ...what i can think of is ....have you check reed valve? And have you put the ring on piston ''opposite direction''?

There are 3 reason why it smoke for what I know ...1)head from valve steam seal and microfracture from damage
2) rings not put properly
3)reed valve

Ps forgot there is 4th overfill oil :) and going trow breather

A totally different reason for smoke here, I had it too and turned out to be bad fuel or not gas as we think of it in the tank, emptied the tank and no issues since. Not too big of an operation to make sure, hope you find the reason!
