Hey guys!
New to the forum, have been reading it a ton tho.

I am another sportbiker wanting to go motard :D I was looking into an '08 FS650e. the closest dealer (4hours away, in another province) has no more bikes and says the factory is sold out too. they say the '09s are coming in sept-oct.

is there much info about the '09s other than it has a new engine with FI (is FI actually much better than a carbed bike?)? i like to know as much as i can about something before i buy. I am dead set on buying a FS650e so far, and have looked into the competition, they just dont do it for me.
also, any speculation as far as pricing goes, i am having a hard time just finding what the '08s are worth new in Canada.

Lastly, is there a few particular site you guys use for aftermarket things like hand guards, hi flow air filters, etc.

Thanks for your time guys!

RE: info on

There were no 08 FS650s imported to NA this year.

The 09 FS650 is the EXACT same bike as the 08. The Factory is doing a small run of 09 FS650 and thats it for the bike.

Who knows if NA will even see the 09 as we didnt get any 08s.

I do know where there is a nice 07 FS650 for sale in Southern Ontario with approx 1500kms on it. PM for the owners info (it is not mine).

RE: info on

i thought the 09's are getting the new, tilted engine with FI? or is that the FE's?

oh well. the dealer said they will be getting 09's so i hope hes right.

apparently these bikes aren't street legal from the factory (i will be using it for 99% street), i e-mailed SGI (government insurance here) and they said basically that it has to have a VIN and the wheels/tires have to meet CMVSS/CMVTSS. is the Behr rims and whatever tires they run street legal? i am assuming that is they are legal elsewhere, they should be legal here. i am having a difficult time finding this information.

Thanks for your help Scott!

RE: info on

the 'o9s are getting the new engine but theres not going to be any 650 version in '09 (if at all)

plus, of i recall correctly, its doubtfull if there are going to be any supermotos with the new engine for the first year, though i may be wrong on that one and someone will correct me.

RE: info on

Yep no tard for 09.

oh, so the outlook isn't good :(

I am not going to be able to build my own. im sure the cost will be more than id want to spend.

Don''t right off the idea of building your 09. A 570 is rumoured to have more power than the 650. It will certainly handle better. I know of a certain few people who might be interested in your std suspension, wheels and brakes.....and you could spin the SXS fork and shock onto the bike with teh big brakes. If it is not very hard to make a bike street legal in Sask, there were some 07/06 fs650c models kicking around. It would take some work, but the basics are all there except lights, switchs, kick stand and dampened wheel. and they may have cheap price too. Talk to Scott, or if you want someone closer, pm me and I'll hook you up.

Tomorrow I will be trading in my 2005 FS650e on a 2008 FE450 here in Red Deer ab
bike has 25 hours on it.It is mint condition not a mark on it if you are interested.
Dealership is Precision cycle works. I dont seem to use it as much as I would like.
Just bought my wife a crf150, so I figure may as well just ride off road.

Hey Fry, the dealership i talked to was out of Brooks A&E was the place. thats where i'd be getting it. The 570, is there any speculation as to price? trying to budget this project out as best i can. Is there any good sites to buy things like wheelsets, brakes and headlights to make it street legal?

The bike on husabergs homepage, is that the only bike (570 and 450 versions of it) they will be manufacturing for the 09 model year?

Thanks for the replies fellas!

Shorty, well if you've talked to Dave at A&E, he has or gets it all. And he's done the conversions before as well, so talking to him personally if you can will get you a wealth of knowledge. You will have to be petient, he is knee deep right now. Pricing hasn't been established from anything I"ve heard.

Thanks for your help guys!

maybe i could get Dave to do the conversion for me so its just ready to get inspected here then plate. ill have to talk to him again.

Saw the 09 prices yesterday - about an 8-9% premium over the 08 RRP here in Oz.
Thinking of getting some motard hoops for my 09 570..

when are they telling you it will get here ?

conjecture everywhere of course - first it was dec 08 - now its spring 08 (oct-nov ish) it will get here when it gets here I guess. But I'll be sure to have my order in first.. ;)
