Hi guys I was wondering if anyone had use or seen any of this machine. I am thinking of my next project coming next winter on the husaberg 650 and I would like to fabricate some ''frame support'' at home

would be fun to have it ... but not sure if it will work to mill a 4/6mm steel and I would like to budget it bellow 1k ...thanks a lot :)

I don't think you would be making much in the way of frame supports with this machine unless you are making them from wood or pottery. It will cut metal about the size of a silver dollar and only soft material. I am going to guess on what you are looking for will cost you more than a new bike :)

I saw then working on youtube but there were actually using them on wood or aluminum :) so I was like wtf ...i hope they could maybe work on small steel project ...uhm I will research or maybe end up making the parts on wood for test and then send them to a proper place and have them made

Some of those little ones make ok stuff.
The one I use plus the software and tooling costs about 7 new bergs

I have a friend in Italy who work on cnc and he told me the same about 50k for his....I am not sure how a 500 is going to handle it

I studied CAD and C++(useless here) but I dont have any experience in G-Code or Cam

I also read a review of a guy who was saying that the software on this machine is counterfeit and couldn't load his project

I might just buy a MILLING/DRILLING MACHINE but still bellow the 1k mark ...see what happen :)

what software are you using?

"One cnc" it's an Australian program very good at generating Gcode for the machine but no parametric modelling ability. Once you have drawn
Something in 3D that's it. No easy way to change anything

The site cnc zone and also practical machinist have a lot of info about converting existing mills to cnc and a lot about free open source software

Good example of a home built machine here CNC Home Build Thread - dbw - dirtbikeworld.net Members Forums

if you can build your part out of steel plates, i would sugest you make your CAD model and just send it to any shop with a laser cutting machine. it's cheap and easy.

If doing some random shapes and need fitting on the bike you can make a cardboard mock-up and then draw the cardboard shape into the CAD software.

Thanks a lot bush and benz ...yes that sems to be the right way to go

Excellent thread. thanks paolo6 and all. One idea: It's cool to have a cheap CNC/printer at home to experiment with and learn, even if we're making parts from the wrong material - the very short feedback loop of draw-print-study/draw-print-study when we get an idea can teach us a lot very fast. And then we can take the idea and finished drawing to a big $50k machine.

that's the goal ...I read thread of a while ago, I am quite sure it was you on 3D printing, have you manage to get any parts done? 3D printing is also cool but i would love to do things like plastic fender rather then warhammer figure :)

I saw this https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1294137530/the-first-desktop-waterjet-cutter Its legit and good quality but at the price of 4.4k dollar :spin:

I will probably stick with paper or wood and then send my project to some company... there is one close to me I found on ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Laser-Laz...430281?hash=item3d3756a509:g:U8AAAOSw6EhUUqfd

i was indeed thinking about it! no money no time to do real projects ... i did build an amplifier chassis out of waterjet cut aluminium thati drew in sketchup :) very fun

also a friend laser-cuts sunglasses out of fish leather and frozen-pizza boxes :) i got to help him a bit, i.e. look at the pretty light until it hurt inside my eyeballs :'(

ps., genuine lol at warhammer figure :) :)

I will explain whats happening with my life atm I dont have a garage(since I move last september) I am just living in a share house and me and my gf we are looking to buy a house until then I have no garage to play (that's why I am thinking of CNC and stuff)...Today I went for a walk with her and I saw a guy with one of those electric bike and the ''engine'' were on the back and front wheel so i went on goggle later on and there has been some motorcycle who are actually hybrid ...the solution was put for years in high end cars ...but I have never done any research on the actual motorcycle...lets say you just want to have a race bike, normally you race for 25/20 minutes session witch a battery can hold, engine like this one (https://www.bonanzamarket.co.uk/lis...eKfgGqKGqwYW5D-Mv2BBdWtoD7W5J1jjCqhoCoufw_wcB) let's say it can produce realistic 20hp weight 4kg (33hp on advartise) plus ''10kg''ish on battery ....there has been anyone in here thinking of this solution on a supermoto? Ok it needs to be light but the SXV still weight 10/15 kg more then the husa and still on the top competition ...has anyone of you ever wonder about having a hybrid race motorcycle? ...and just looking to this website battery/weight and motor size seems promising https://www.goldenmotor.com/ (on electric motorbike section)

Done some more research I think I was too much optimistic :) weight would be considering a bike like the ktm freeride 27kg on battery (full power for 30 minutes) plus motor and that motor is 42nm torque, again still too faty...but the suzuki is actually producing one!! sorry for the changing of discussion but I was amaze by this electric bicycle i saw... I really think for the next 20 years petrol/hybrid will dominate in performance
