Does anyone know if there is a way to add oil capacity to a 06 fe550e? An oil cooler would add some, but I wouldn't know where to tap into the system. An additional tank would do as well - any suggestions are appreciated.
How about long ADV trips that exceed the recommended intervals? I agree that overcomplicating things isn't a good idea. I tend to do that sometimes. Maybe I'm just trying to help the motor live a better life.
The defunct Joe Racer products used to make an oil cooler kit for Husabergs and RFS KTM's. It would tap in at the oil filter cover. Here is a pic from a KTM RFS Quad Forum that shows what someone had made themselves. It looks like the "adapter" uses a different oil filter or perhaps deletes it. The KTM RFS motor was the continued evolution of the first generation Husaberg motor (1989-2000). The KTM RFS motor was produced from 2000-2007.
Thanks, Husabutt.
It looks like they made an entire run of them. It also looks like it replaced the filter. Hopefully, they added a filter somewhere .
I think I'll take FlyingZebra's advice and leave it alone. I'm still waiting for a few bits before I take it out for the first real ride. Just sitting around reading horror stories about ruined engines is doing weird things to my brain.
There is not a way to increase the oil quanity serius .The most oil capacity you can take is 150 ml and i dont suggest an oil cooler for use off road. You will crash the oil cooler in the first off road from rocks .The oil cooler is a very good solution to cool your oil in supermoto use .Also there are some oil cooler adaptors in the market without filters inside. This will be ruin your bike .Stay away from this .I have an oil cooler adapter for my bike with the use of original oil filter but i did not fitted yet .Also there are not many places to fit it without danger because must be low .berg oil pump is very very small to transfer the oil in a high point.
