IMS fuel Tanks

nothing. not a sausage!

there weren't enough orders for it to go ahead i'm afraid. it ended up being a semi-commercial adventure and i don't think the two boys putting it together had the colateral or interest to risk it. can't blame them for that can you?

why don't you consider buying a used berg tank for $30 and then using a heat gun like i have-bow it out everywhere you can?

i can hear your reply already no way!

but if you read my article on thinning the tank down it's actually easy and a lot of fun! i have even had to re expand it today and yesterday. my B-I-L has been leaving some 2' steel rods that are 10-12mm diameter. i bent one up in the vice and stuck it in the tank. i was very suprised at the places this rod could reach.

i don't see why, with a little effort you shouldn't increase the capacity to 11 litres? try it locally a few times, take the original etc etc.

me? i'd do it tomorrow but-IDGAF

Newberg,
I've got a large tank for a Husaberg. Made by Acerbis, blue plastic w/ pump and mounting hardware. What size are you looking for? My tank is 5 US gal. What year and model is your bike.
Mackberg :D :)

ask splat about my digi camera from holiday... :( :(

the thing is D-O-D-G-Y!! :D :D

i would if i could! it's not a thing of beauty when you press in a tank but bulging out has the potential to look quite clean i would have thought?

i would suggest gearing up a schrader valve to the cap and pumping out with a little pump until you get to 5-10PSI. then put the heat gun on the bits you want to stick out!

Careful here I have had a little experience doing the "blowup" thing. I used boiling water (not smart enough to think of a heat gun) and like Taffy said a schrader valve on the fuel cap. I increased a honda cr 500 tank by 3/4 gallon but it wasn't all that pretty and I also did a kx 2fiddy, you know with the perimeter frame :D . well lets just say that when it came time to put a new topend in the motor I had to buy an IMS tank due to the fact I had to CUT the tank to get it out of the frame
So I would say be careful where the tank crosses the frame and where the mount rubbers go in.

Mackberg,

5 us would be fine, bike is 05 fe 550 don't know if the older style will fit ?

Newberg,
This tank I have fits my 97' FE. It has a hold down bolt on top in front of filler cap like the stock tank. Maybe some of the resident experts might know if it fits all FEs or just some model years.
ATTENTION ALL EXPERTS!!
Will the Acerbis 5 gal. fuel tank Husaberg used to sell on their website fit all year model FEs? Newberg is looking for a big tank and needs help.

Thanks,
Mackberg

I believe the short answer in "no" :(

when the style changed so did the tank design and frame mounting (i think)

I am pretty sure it would fit all FE's prior to the model year 2000. 1999 and below.

2000 had the new style frame and hideous "blue" new style tank no longer requiring a fuel pump. Sorry bksavs. Your 2000 Berg is cool even with that blue tank
