I'm Worried

a week ago, i took a second hand 2001 FE650 for a test, i was sold on the sound alone.......and the ride converted me into a believer!!!!! I phoned the mechanic who worked on the bike, and he said that the whole engine was rebuilt and is in great nick. After that, i purchased the bike for a great price from PRO-ACTION KTM (they also have a great reputation.)

I went on the net to find some manuals for some how to's and such (I love doing small maintanance on my bike.....but nothing intense....oil changes, air filters, etc.)

I stubbled onto this website that is great.....but I started noticing a trend....THERE ARE MORE BLOWN UP BERGS THAN HOMES IN BAGHDAD.....I'm am NOW SERIOUSLY CONCERNED ABOUT MY PURCHASE......I just do some light trail riding with my friends on a sunday.....will not really be racing this thing.....should i be worried that the things gonna blow up, sieze, die, etc. CAN I ACTUALLY ENJOY THIS BIKE, or should i worry (LIKE I AM!!!!!!)

PLEASE HELP!

I understand that this website is for people with technical issues and to get help etc. IN SOUTH AFRICA Husaberg is a very rare bike....and i thought that would be the case everywhere, but i read about bikes that die after 10 minutes, blew up after 10 hours, siezed after 5 seconds!!!! So from my point of view 9/10 husas DIE after 10 hours!

CAN I ENJOY THE BIKE THE WAY THE BEAST INTENDED!
IS THE 2001 FE650 a PROBLEM!!!!! (they've done some modifications to it, like cam chain adjusters and such!)
WHAT SHOULD CHECK FOR/ WORRY ABOUT!!!

I CURRENTLY RIDE A XT600E (I can bury it in mud over winter and pull it out in summer and ride it like a dream, so my biking experience may be a little warped when it comes to maintance)

PLEASE HELP!

stop your worrying Jaco, and enjoy your bike.

Bad things happen to good people sometimes, but the majority of Husaberg riders never have to participate in the type of thread that you speak of.

I ride an '01 470 for recreation and have never had to do anything other than standard maintenance.

Keep in mind that there updates for certain parts of your bike that you would be wise to include when it's time for maintenance. You can find out a lot more info about this in the doc.

It's a fun bike, and if you stop waiting for it to explode, you'll have a blast on it.

thanks,

Heja narkotik666!

Welcome to the site...

I'm with Json, don't worry.

It's a persistent prejudice Husabergs will blow up easily and without any reason.

Of course they ARE race bikes and therefore regular maintenance according to
the manual is vital!

Also your riding style will influence the engine's life-span.

I saw people revving the guts out of a cold engine and then wondering
about the BANG...

So if you have some appreciation for how to handle and maintain huge high
performance four stroke singles the Husaberg will give you more pleasure than
any other bike.

:D Thanks!!!!!!! This weekend I'm taking her out of the box of bubble wrap and enjoy her a bit!!!!

Thanks for the REPLIES!!!
