RE: seroiusly f*ucked off

Have you checked the carburetor? Spark plug? Check if it gives a proper spark. Plug off, finger to plug hole, few turns with e-start. No petrol in finger - you have a carburetor problem. Check spark visually.

As Dale Lineaweaver once said:, if it has spark, fuel and air it has to run. I think what you once thought was a carb problem was probably your stator on the way out. Get an exchange from Taffy or send it to Sparks for a rewind thats better than new. Five years on the original stator is well past its service life based on what others here have reported.

If you would have come here PRIOR to purchasing an 03 model most would have tried to steer you to a 04 model and up but the issues you are having are fairly minor and usual for the year.

Just had 800quid rebuild spent 230quid today having everything checked im going to cut it in half in the morning . i bet my sthil starts first pull

pulled it out of the van after picking it up ran nice for hour then started to splutter and as i said before i just spent a load more money today having it all checked including the stator reg rec charging system valves recut checked top end all rebuilt and full service
what more does it want

Sometimes people when they struggle with broken down motor start jump into the conclusions, and try find the problem deeep inside. In that while, good practice is:sit down, have ***(if smoke), have think ANS STARTS FROM BASICS!!!.I see that you are embarassed and dissappointed, but ANSWER YOUSELF FOR FEW SIMPLE QUESTIONS:1) What is quality of spark-compare to wide described examples from forum, 2) Are you sure that the carb is OK? Have you check it?
Sometimes the problem is right just at range of your hand.Simple fault.Deadly easy and obvious.Chill out 711scotty! We all done it!

I second the fuel cap vent hose. I would almost bet my bottom dollar it is a fuel tank vent issue.

Call DCR and speak to Dave if possible. I'm sure they can sort it. In the meantime do the simple things described on here (fuel tank vent, kinked carb vent, clean out carb etc).

in order of my thoughts

fuel tank isn't venting - easy cure=ride with cap slightly undone

stator is starting to go

when it stalls = lay another plug on the head in the cap and kick and check for spark - might need a mate around or you can also take your plug out and do it yourself but it's not quite as good.

plug breaking down

plug cap breaking down

coil breaking down = and so will you when you see the price of a new one!

THERE IS NO RESERVE ON A HUSABERG

FUEL QUALITY HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH YOUR PROBLEM

have you ever tried special fuels and mixes in it?

what did you have wrong before you started and what was wrong after the 800squid that needed another £230 spending on it?

regards

Taffy

Two minutes running, if it is only at idle or very light load, could also be the carb float bowl running empty due to a part blockage between the fuel in the tank and the float bowl - eg the fuel strainer on the side of the carb. It'd show itself as similar symptoms to the blocked tank vent, but would happen sooner.

When it is dying after the two or so minutes, does pulling the choke on make it run better for a bit? If it does it is likely a fuel starvation problem.

From my experience, the reliability of a machine is not proportional to the money paid to the mechanic. People often say "You get what you pay for.", but that is not always true though. It should be "You don't get what you don't pay for."

When you do you are a lucky man.....

Stick in there. It should be a good thing when what sounds like a small problem is sorted.

Agree on fuel starvation again, check and blow out all vent and fuel feed hoses (disconnect from carb so you dont blow shiyte into the carb) tank cap, petcock and strainer in tank, float bowl is a good suggestion also, once you have eliminated the external factors, then you can start looking closer at engine probs.

You sound like a guy with a short fuse
When you get frustrated at things in life try to do something to relax like going for a bike ride
Seriously take three deep breaths and think this through. I know the answer to you porblems are in the above posts. I would check on fuel starvation first because its easy and then stator. Stator is the most probable since this is a known issue for the 01-03 bikes. It will act like it will run and then be gone. kick for 2 days and then all of a sudden start right up and quit as you leave the parking area. PM to Sparks and get it sorted.

The bike is worth the trouble when it goes.
RELAX

And remember:
You cant get your panites in a wad if:

YOU DONT WEAR ANY

I don't Know if it has already been said, but try checking if the Pilot needle in the carb is stuck, my dads ATK had the same issue and that's what it was.

sounds very similar to my 04 not long after i got it, was fuel starvation. I pulled the two fuel taps out, removed the factory strainers as they seemed to be getting some sort of air lock in them when fuel was low, I replaced fuel lines and installed 2 after market in-line filters, and lastly made sure the breather in the fuel cap actually breathed and installed an after market breather/filter thing, like $10.

No issues since.

A mates chinese import quad-bike did a similar thing and we discovered the cap was not drilled properly under the rubber bladder in the cap so would run fine for about 10 mins then die, leave it for 5 mins and it would run for another minute or 2. Check the cap.
